Hi everyone, it’s Megan G.! We’re back at school, but this time I’m a senior! What an absolute whirlwind it has been since you’ve last heard from me. It seems like the only thing that has remained constant are my plans for the future, but even those have been slightly altered. The more things that get introduced in 2020, the more appealing a gap year looks.
With that being said, I have had to alter my project from including men in the tri-campus community, to measuring jump height just in Saint Mary’s students. Though the change is a little disappointing, it is still great that I have been able to find another project without completely changing every aspect of said project. Micaela, Megan W., and I have been collecting new data since August, and plan to wrap it up soon so we can start analyzing! The rest of the semester will include analyzing data and writing the first two drafts of my comp paper. Hi everyone, it's Megan W again!
This past summer I had an internship as a Professional Nursing Assistant at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. I was able to work on a Rehab unit and worked with a lot of patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries. It was really neat to see some of the topics we discuss in Locomotion Lab put into practice in a hospital setting. Right now I am working on collecting data for my ACL study on Q angle differences between injured and non-injured women at Saint Mary's College. In addition to this data collection, Megan G, Micaela and I are working on analyzing past data from the ACL study in order to apply it to our current research. We are also working on training some underclassmen in how to do the research so they will one day be able to hopefully conduct their own research. So far, this year has been off to a hectic but exciting start! |
