Hi all! My name is Mohra Anderson and I am a new member of Dr. Young’s Locomotion Lab at Saint Mary’s! I just finished my proposal for my research on the muscle activity of the shoulder in string musicians this past week. It is amazing just writing that! I started out this Spring Semester being so intimidated by the prospect of formal research, and I now have a solid plan for pursuing my project!
I am a Junior with a student-designed kinesiology major with a concentration in biomechanics and a violin performance major. I am grateful to Saint Mary’s for the opportunity to pursue my interdisciplinary interests and to the Locomotion Lab for the opportunity to transform those interests into research. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved my electromyography research methods in April, and I can now start my data collection. I am eager to start my first formal research project and look forward to what the future will bring! Hello! My name is Hannah Nichols and I am a junior biology major. I’m very excited to work with Dr. Young and Shaylee Smith on the project regarding squirrel tail lengths. I’m currently still working on my literature review, but just this weekend finished up the IACUC proposal with Dr. Young. Hopefully, this will allow us to begin collecting research soon! Additionally, our Neuhoff proposal was approved (yay!!) so I am able to collect data for my research this summer with Dr. Young as well as help out with Valerie Eddington and Dr. Kloepper on their project regarding shrews and the use of echolocation. I’m looking forward to this opportunity and excited to see what this summer has in store for me!
